First edition of New Jalukie Super League concludes

Dimapur, Aug. 1 (EMN): The first edition of New Jalukie Super League (NSL) concluded at Public Ground, New Jalukie under Peren district on Saturday.

An update informed that the league was organised by veteran football players and sports enthusiasts of New Jalukie. The super league is an annual football 7-a side event. The league comprises of six clubs currently and aims to mould young budding players and promote them at the grassroots level to help them display their talents and realise their potentiality in the discipline of football.

G Apan, General Secretary of Dimapur District Veteran Football Association (DDVFA) attended the closing ceremony as the special guest, it stated.

On the last day of the league, an exhibition match was played between DDVFA and New Jalukie Super League organising committee, wherein the DDVFA won the match. The final match of NSL 2021 was played between Bridge Colony FC and Pandemic FC and Bridge Colony FC won the match via a tiebreaker (Penalties) 4-2 after the match ended in 1-1 draw. While Hornbill FC emerged as NSL 2021 winners, it said.

The organising committee of NSL 2021 has thanked all the players of the six clubs and the management teams for their efforts throughout the first league season. The committee also expressed their gratitude towards the special guest and his team, individual award sponsors, donors, match patrons, village leaders, volunteers, sports lovers from different quarters and fans for their contributions and encouragement towards the first edition of New Jalukie Super League, it added.
