APO lauds political parties in Nagaland over decision to form opposition-less govt.
Dimapur, July 27 (EMN): The Angami Public Organisation (APO) has lauded the political parties in Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) that have decided to come together to form an opposition-less government, expressing confidence that the move was initiated in the greater interest of the Naga people.
The organisation said in a press statement on Tuesday that it will further strengthen and facilitate the ongoing peace talks as well as pave the way for a much-yearned settlement to the protracted Naga political struggle.
“While acknowledging the difficult circumstances under which the Naga peace talks are progressing, it is important to note that all the Naga tribes must come together to support any initiative that will pave the way for an early solution to the Naga political struggle,” read the statement.
Recalling that all the political parties, except BJP, had called for a delay in 2018 general election in favour of an early Naga political solution, the APO said ‘it has become very important that all political parties make every effort to arrive at an agreeable stand in bringing about the Naga political issue to its logical conclusion’.
“It is the common desire of all the Naga people to have a better and safer future and APO has always advocated the ideals of unity amongst all Naga tribes,” it stated, adding that “the dreams and aspirations of our forefathers can only be brought to fruition by embracing peace and that can only be achieved if we are willing to come together to ensure security, prosperity and sustainable development for our people and the future generation”.
