Dimapur, June 28 (EMN): The district administration and Health department, Kiphire, carried out a sensitisation drive on Covid vaccine under Kiphire district on June 27.
An update on Monday informed that the team covered Phelungre village, Purrur village, Anatongre village, Singrep village, and Kiphire village.
At Phelungre village, Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Rahul Mali, and District Immunisation Officer, Dr. K Pewezo Khalo sensitised the village leaders and the villagers at Phelungre Baptist Church.
It said that the DC reminded the gathering about the status of Covid-19 in the district. He informed that if any village achieved 100 percent vaccination, churches and schools would be allowed to resume with full capacity.
Stating that other advanced countries are taking the same vaccine as in Kiphire, he urged everyone to come forward and receive the vaccine without any scepticism. He refuted the rumours doing rounds about the vaccine and asserted the vaccine was developed only to fight the disease.
Meanwhile, Dr. K Pewezo Khalo, sensitised the leaders about the vaccine by emphasising on the importance of preventing Coronavirus together.
‘Warning the gathering about the imminent third wave of Covid-19, he underscored the importance of taking the vaccine, without which Coronavirus will continue to spread. Emphasising the vaccine was introduced after numerous experiments and after substantiating the efficacy of the vaccine, he called on the villagers to outweigh the benefits of vaccine over rumours,’ read the statement.
He challenged the village leaders to set good examples to their villagers in order to protect the village from the disease and accept the vaccine without any hesitation.
Similar messages about the Covid vaccine were disseminated in all the villages that the teams covered. The sensitisation drive carried out at Pungro town was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pungro, Abhinav Shivam, and Medical Officer, Pungro CHC, Dr. Sikukhiumew Torechu.
A special vaccination drive was carried out at Zisaji Presidency College (ZPC) for college faculty and students, and the residents of the surrounding area on Monday. It added that prior to the vaccination session, a short programme was conducted, during which the principal of ZPC, Dr. PC Mishra and DIO, Dr. K Pewezo Khalo sensitised the gathering about the benefits of the vaccine.
