Nagaland Chief Minister holds meeting with Tuensang DTF

Dimapur, June 22 (EMN):  Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio held a meeting with the members of Tuensang District Task Force for Covid -19 at DC’s Conference Hall, Tuensang on Tuesday.

The deputy commissioner and chairman of DTF Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant, presented a report on Covid-19 status and apprised of some challenges the district face in fighting the pandemic, informed an update from DIPR.

The tribal hohos also expressed their grievances in the health sector while appreciating the support and care of the government towards the district.

On this the chief minister said that the government is focused on the health sector and assured to “keep the people safe and overcome the pandemic”. While mentioning the newly inaugurated oxygen generator plant at Tuensang, he urged the gathering to maintain and taken care of the various facilities.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Pangnyu Phom spoke about the government’s plans to fulfil the needs and demands of the district. Expressing the need to boost the vaccination and testing in Tuensang district to catch up with the other districts, he urged the civil societies, tribal leaders and other faith-based institutions to play an active and proactive role in educating the people.

Phom said that vaccine is the only solution at the moment, for which, he sought the co-operation of everyone.

Legislator Toyang Changkhong Chang appreciated the commitment and concern of the chief minister towards the district by facilitating the much-needed equipment and also for his personal presence in launching the oxygen generator plant, according to DIPR update.

Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Amardeep S Bhatia stated that the idea of relaxing the lockdown depends on bringing down the positivity rate in the state below 5%.

However, he maintained that it does not mean the pandemic is gone, but everyone should follow Covid-appropriate behaviour.

Reminding that testing rate in the state still remains one of the lowest in the country, he stressed on the need to focus on boosting the vaccination processes and testing rate as it will help determine the Covid status of the state. ASHA workers should ensure that they are in the respective villages to do their needful duties and also facilitate healthcare in the villages, he added.

Principal Director of Health department, Dr. Neikhrielie Khimiao said the state government and Health Department are very sensitive towards the health system of the state and trying to provide every essentials on need base.
