237 new Covid cases in Nagaland; 4.03 lakh in India

Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): Nagaland recorded 237 new Covid-19 positive cases on Sunday, taking the state’s tally to 16150.
The minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, updated that out of the 237 new cases detected in the last 24 hours, 128 were in Kohima, 89 in Dimapur, five in Mon, four in Tuensang, three each in Phek, Mokokchung and Longleng and two in Peren
He added that 128 patients — 86 in Kohima, 37 in Dimapur, four in Mon and one in Mokokchung – had recovered during the same period of time.
The state currently has 2809 active Covid-19 cases, 12687 recoveries and 130 deaths recorded.
India’s total active caseload reached 37, 36, 648 with 4, 03, 738 new cases registered in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Maharashtra reported the highest daily new cases at 56,578 followed by Karnataka with 47, 563 and Kerala with 41,971 new cases.
It said that 13 states cumulatively accounted for 82.94% of India’s total active cases.
Meanwhile, 4,092 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (864) followed by Karnataka with 482 daily deaths.
As on day-113 of the vaccination drive (May 8), 20, 23,532 vaccine doses were administered. Across 16,722 sessions, 8, 37,695 beneficiaries were vaccinated for first dose and 11, 85, 837 beneficiaries received their second dose of vaccine.
Further, India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1, 83, 17, 404 with 3, 86, 444 recoveries registered in the last 24 hours.
