Kohima, April 19 (EMN): The government of Nagaland on Monday announced that ongoing High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations 2021 conducted by Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) will continue with strict observance of safety measures.
The HSLC and HSSLC exams, which began on April 7 and 6 respectively, are scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, April 21.
An official from the School Education department told Eastern Mirror that no Covid-19 cases have been reported at the examination centres- among the examiners and invigilators from across the state so far.
The joint mission director of Samagra Nagaland, Dr. Kevi Rio, informed that the board examinations are being conducted by following strict SOP in view of the pandemic and that it’s “so far so good”. He added that they are in touch with the district mission offices for updates from the exam centres.
The chief minister of the state had expressed concern over the prevailing situation during the education committee meeting held on Monday but it was decided to continue with the examinations as no positive case has been reported either among the students or others, the official said.
“Since we have not received any drastic issue from any corner, we will just continue,” he said, adding that they were taking stock of daily situation related to Covid-19.
He said that the board examinations wouldn’t be distracted unless they receive orders from the higher authority. ‘This time, we have created new examination centres in order to avoid crowding,’ he added.
The official expressed hope that the concerned schools in Mokokchung district, where positive cases were detected a few days ago, would maintain all the necessary SOPs. He also advised teachers, parents and students not to panic and carried away by rumours and fake news circulating on social medial, saying that they should only believe information disseminated by the competent authority.
