Eastern Mirror: Please introduce yourself to those who haven’t heard of you.
Jpollnd: I believe in entertaining people so in simple words I would like to say that I am an entertainer and a youtuber. I also do music on the side but I am still at the starting of it. It makes me happy to bring smile on people’s faces through my work as an entertainer whether via music or my youtube channel given that people of my generation are facing many battles like depression.
Eastern Mirror: What inspired you to get into music?
Jpoland: When I first started rapping it was themed around my struggle and rap being a very expressive form of music I took this passion to raise a
voice on concerns like corruption and also to inspire listeners through my struggles because I have always used that as a push factor. Music is truly that one art which is extremely powerful and impactful so I wanted to grasp that opportunity to exploit its potential.
Eastern Mirror: How would you describe the music you composed?
Jpollnd: My music is hands down about my struggles. Growing up, like every teenager I had my fair share of struggles and identity issues like trying to discover myself or let’s say trying to cope up with life’s challenges. What I want is for people to take strength from my battles and be inspired to never doubt oneself or to give up.
Eastern Mirror: What are your main inspirations while writing lyrics?
Jpollnd: My lyrical inspiration comes from the society and my personal life. What I went through and what I see people go through is what I write about. It is basically from observing things around me and the issues that I feel called out to speak about in my music. About the influence on my music though that would be Emimen because he is that one artist that I truly connect with.
Eastern Mirror: What would be your dream collaboration?
Jpollnd: This may sound crazy but imagination costs nothing so my biggest dream collaboration would be with Eminem.
Eastern Mirror: How do you juggle multiple projects on your plate, how do you complete them on time?
Jpollnd: The key here is keeping myself motivated and driven. This to me comes from listening to my favourite artists because it’s not easy all the time to think straight and to write straight and make good music people would enjoy listening to. At times it might take a little time to create a track but mostly I have been able to complete my projects on time because once I am into it I do it with all focus and dedication. The mantra here keeping my mind motivated.
Eastern Mirror: What is your greatest strength? How does it help you as an artist?
Jpollnd: As an artist my greatest and the only true strength is believing in myself and being unapologetically myself. As long as you are not putting up a show to impress people with a fake façade, your work will never feel like a drag and you’ll rather enjoy it because it comes naturally.
Eastern Mirror: If u could change anything about the music industry in Nagaland, what would it be?
Jpollnd: Our Nagaland music industry is quite lopsided. Don’t get me wrong when I say this but there are artists that are just simply overrated. It is a good thing our people are supporting and promoting local artists however though, on the flip side there are artists who are not getting their deserved appreciation and recognition.
So the only thing I’d like to change is for the upcoming artists to be pushed and recognised more than being stagnant with the ones that have already marked their place. It is time for our music to grow more which can happen only when new artists are given a platform.
Eastern Mirror: Your dream venue to perform at?
Jpollnd: My dream venue to perform at is quite honestly no fancy award shows or events but my own J Polland show where my true music lovers can come without tickets and enjoy free music and where I can have a space with my fans and perform for them and just have a real good time vibing.
Eastern Mirror: What upcoming projects do you have lined up?
Jpollnd: By the time this article is released my project with Meyisanen and Temsu clover Neisenuoy would be out and as of now I’m focused on making music video on my album ‘Isolation’ which I dropped just recently.
I also might be working on some collaborations but that will take some time.
Eastern Mirror: Any message for your fans?
Jpollnd: To my fans, no matter how supported and gifted I might be until there’s somebody to listen to my music I would be nothing. Also without the blessings of God I cannot imagine achieving in life.
So I wanna thank God and all my fans who listen and support my music and allow me to entertain on a daily. I truly feel out of this world seeing so much love and support. I’m blessed to have them in my life and I urge them to take only positive things out of my music and chuck out any negative influence because as a human there may be times I goof up but again take what’s Good and be inspired.
