Naga People’s Front condemns Lamhainamdi killing, demands booking of culprits
Home Minister of Nagaland should resign on moral ground if March 22 incident is not settled within specific time, it says
Dimapur, March 24 (EMN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has condemned the brutal killing of three persons allegedly by unidentified armed miscreants on March 22 evening at Lamhainamdi village in Nagaland’s Peren district and demanded the law enforcing agencies to book the culprits.
A press release from the party stated that “merciless inhuman killing of innocent lives is not acceptable in the society and rightful punishment should be awarded to the killer/killers”.
While lauding the government of Nagaland for setting up special investigation team (SIT) to probe the case, the party demanded to “give specific time duration to its people to settle the matter and book the culprit”. It added that Home Minister of the state should resign on moral ground if the case is “not brought to light during that specific time frame”.
Citing the tense situation at the vicinity of the incident, the NPF said such situation could be averted if the government was vigilant. It also asked if the government is aware of random killing, extortion, corruption and many other criminal activities happening in the state or ‘consider it as a trend to be ignored’.
It reminded the government of Nagaland of its duty to provide security as well as deliver justice to its people and demanded the law enforcing agencies to take up the Lamhainamdi village killing incident with utmost sincerity, book the culprits and deliver justice to the victims within a specific time frame.
The NPF went on to ‘convey its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace’.
