Dimapur, March 15 (EMN): Kevingoto Kulnu EAC (Sadar), Kohima, encouraged students by stating that education was a great instrument for women empowerment and a tool to balance gender disparity.
Kulnu was speaking at a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Kohima on March 13 where
study materials were distributed to girl students under the Vigyan Jyoti scheme.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]Kulnu added that one becomes empowered when they are educated. He stressed on the importance of science education and the advantages of it for their future careers. Citing his personal experiences as an administrator, he also encouraged the students to consider administration as a career.
Kulnu was the special guest for the progarmme while Moasangla, associate professor, Kohima Science College was the resource person.
Principal, JNV, Kohima, K Kapfo stated that the Vigyan Jyoti scheme was an initiative of the department of Science and Technology, “intended to create a level-playing field for the meritorious girls in high school to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (Stem),” a DIPR update stated. He encouraged the students to work hard and make the best use of the study materials.
Further, Moasangla expressed happiness that more girls were taking up science education and added that the numbers of girls were more in many of the institutions. She also encouraged them to build a research attitude by asking questions and encouraged the students to make proper use of technology in their studies. She stressed on the need for a change in mindset in the society and “break that belief that Mathematics and Science are hard subjects”.
