Kohima, Feb. 18 (EMN): Advisor of Water Resources, Namri Nchang stated that the department is currently implementing 270 surface minor irrigation projects which were proposed to the ministry during 2017-18 and sanctioned during the years 2018-19 and 2019-20.
However, he informed that there was no major irrigation project except minor ones which are taken up under CSS of PMKSY in the state.
He was responding to MLA Dr. Chotisuh Sazo’s unstarred questions at the ongoing assembly session in Kohima to furnish the list of minor and major projects sanctioned during 2019-20 and 2020-21.
Nchang went on to inform that the first instalment was received from the central government in March 2019 and second instalment in June 2020.
“The subsequent instalment is awaited,” he said. “There is no new scheme proposed during the fiscal year 2020-21,” Nchnag added justifying his statement with a copy of various names of the projects and beneficiaries from different districts while also mentioning the amount being sanctioned for each project.
According to the official document presented by the advisor in the House, a total amount of INR 5,171.30 lakh has been sanctioned for 79 projects from Kohima, Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Tuensang, Longleng, Kihphire, Mon, Phek, Jalukie, Dimapur and Wokha.
