Kohima, Jan. 31 (EMN): Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) is all set to conduct the 50th golden jubilee of the area sports meet from February 1 to 9 at Phüsachodü village under Phek district, hosted by Phüsachodü Youth Society (PYS).
Manipur’s minister for Public Health Engineering Department and Printing and Stationery, Losii Dikho, will grace the occasion as chief guest, while Member of Nagaland legislative assembly, Dr. Chotisüh Sazo will be the guest of honour.
The opening ceremony will begin at 1 pm on February 1 and to mark the occasion, the chief guest will unveil CAGSA’s 50th anniversary monolith during the opening ceremony.
The nine-day long tournament will feature seven track events for both the genders, six field events for men and five field events for women. The competition also includes football, volleyball, basketball, archery and arm wrestling.
The running cash prizes include) INR 1, 00, 000 for football (men) donated by family of Lt. Kronyi Kapüh, INR 50,000 basketball (men) donated by family of Lt. Vekhotso Chotso, INR 50,000 volleyball (men) donated by family in memory of Lt. Hüsazo Swüro, INR 30,000 football (women) donated by family of Lt. Vezopra Nyekha, INR 20,000 basketball (women) donated by Pungotolü Swuro and INR 20,000 for volleyball (women) donated by Müdovehü Yhobü. This was stated in a press release from CAGSA media team on Sunday.
CAGSA president Vekhayi Ruho stated preparations have been going on for more than a week. With 11 units under Chokri area, he informed that they are expecting around 1000 participants for the sports meet.
In the wake of Covid-19, the president also have urged the delegates to strictly follow the government SOPs.
The associate units under Chokri Area are Chesezu Youth Association, Chetheba Town Youth Organisation, Chikri Nasa Youth Organisation, Khulazu Basa Youth Organisation, Khulazu Bawe Village Youth Society, Kikrüma Youth Organisation, North Kikrüma Youth Organisation, Phüsachodümi Youth Society, Rükizu Youth Organisation, Thenyizumi Youth Social Welfare Organisation, Thipuzu Youth Organisation.
