Dimapur, Dec. 2 (EMN): The Dimapur District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), in collaboration with District Level Network, Vihaan CSC and partner TI NGOs of Dimapur, observed the ‘World AIDS Day’ 2020 at the chapel hall of District Hospital Dimapur on December 1 on the theme ‘Global solidarity, shared responsibility’.
Basing on the theme and current Covid pandemic, the main speaker and senior medical officer of ART Plus Centre, Dimapur, Dr. Hotoka Hesso highlighted on HIV prevention and how Covid affects an individual’s immune system. He advised everyone to be aware of HIV and Covid and not take them for granted.
He also stressed on the importance of taking proper medication, foods and vitamins to boost the immune system of an individual.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Dimapur, stated that result of the district level NSACS online quiz competition and winners in various categories was also declared by DPO, DAPCU.
It added that NSACS has provided a one-time educational assistance to three children living with HIV (CLHIV) in the district. Dr. Hesso gave away the grant in aid to three CLHIV for educational support for one academic year with a cash amount of INR 12000 each.
The programme was chaired by Vimezuno, programme co-ordinator of Vihaan CSC, while Rev. Yhunlo Thong, chaplain of District Hospital Dimapur, invoked the blessings of God for the programme. Rokomeno, mentor I-Tech, shared on the significance of World AIDS Day and how it is observed globally and Mary Jimo delivered a short speech on behalf of the PLHIV community.
