Kohima, Nov. 24 (EMN): The 50th Khulazu Basa Youth Organisation games and sports, which is a four-day event, got underway at Khulazu village local ground on Tuesday in Phek district.

Vekhayi Rüho, the president of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA), said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is seeking to promote cricket in the country and the developmental process of the sport is underway in Phek under the initiative of Phek District Cricket Association (PDCA).

Against this scenario, Rüho asked the participants to opt for the game of cricket .

He also encouraged the players by reminding them that all the great players in sport have had humble beginnings in their early lives.  

Ruho said that physical statures are not the only criteria to excel in sport, citing the example of the diminutive Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, who is rated as the greatest batsman of his generation.

Former India international in football, Velükho Rhakho, shared that there is wide scope in sport for Naga youths.

He encouraged them to pursue any sport of their interest and work hard to achieve their dreams. He also added that different games and sports are now being introduced as part of the curricular activities in many educational institutions.

Joint Secretary for Soil and Water Conservation, Tsobahu Rhakho, unveiled the monolith of the organization’s 50th anniversary event.
