Medical College sanctioned for hill districts in Manipur

Imphal, Nov. 23 (EMN): Manipur’s Minister for Transport, TA & Hills and GAD, Vungzagin Valte on Sunday visited the construction site of the state’s first ever medical college in the hill districts. The medical college has been proposed to be constructed at Mata area of Churachandpur district. Valte led the inspection team and also surveyed the approach road to the college, which is situated near Mata village in Churachandpur district.
The new 100 MBBS seated medical college will be constructed over an area of 25 acres, the minister said.
The construction work will start as soon as possible for the benefit of the young generations, he said. The minister also surveyed the best approach road to be constructed with a minimum width of 12 metres from Tedim Road.
The medical college is funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The approach road to the college will be taken up by the PWD and the construction of the medical college by the Manipur Police Housing Corporation. For the construction of the college, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved and sanction INR 325 crores of which the first instalment has been released to the Manipur government.
Chairman, ADC Churachandpur, Khaipao Haokip, Additional Chief Secretary (Works) Paulunthang Vaiphei, Principal Secretary (Health & FW), Vumlunmang Vualnam, Chief Engineer, PWD, Deputy Commissioner of the district, PawanYadav and other dignitaries accompanied the minister during the inspection visit.
