Nagaland Bye-poll: Bad road forces polling officials to carry EVMs, equipment on foot

Kohima, Nov. 2 (EMN): A group of polling officials and security personnel assigned for the bye-election to 60-Pungro-Kiphire assembly constituency had a harrowing time reaching their destination on November 2 due to poor road condition.
Reliable sources informed Eastern Mirror that the team assigned to a polling station at Iponger village faced many problems on their way due to the “poor road connectivity”.
It was learnt that the polling and security personnel had to carry the EVMs and other equipment.
Poor road conditions between Iponger and Zaonger village prevented their vehicle from going any further and they had to carry the equipment to their polling station on foot.
It was said that that the distance between Iponger village and Zaonger village is 8 km.
The source also informed that some polling parties had to be sent on November 1 as some of them had to reach their polling stations by foot due to deplorable road conditions.
Five women polling teams were also sent to their respective assigned villages, it was informed.
