Nagaland: EDGBA appeals to expedite construction of bridge at Purana Bazaar
Dimapur, Oct. 23 (EMN): The East Dimapur GBs’ Association (EDGBA) has drawn the attention of the minister of Urban Development on the ‘undue delay and inferior workmanship’ in the construction of the bridge over Dhansiri River at Purana Bazaar/ Super market, Dimapur.
The association said in a statement on Friday that the construction work is going at a “snail’s pace” and that it has taken over a decade without any sign of completion till date.
Stating that the construction work of 4th Mile bridge and Nagarjan bridge under PWD are progressing at good pace, the association has asked why the Urban Development department is taking so long to complete the bridge.
The association also alleged that the work executed till date is ‘not up to its mark’, saying that many loopholes could be seen.
The association has reminded the concerned department that the bridge is vital as it connects East Dimapur with the rest of the town area. It, therefore, urged the concerned authority to expedite and complete the construction work without further delay, ‘before the patience of the general public runs out’.
It has also implored upon the wisdom and attention of the minister of Urban Development to take the matter seriously and personally supervise its work by taking necessary corrective measures and as per the contractual specifications within this year.
