Educational institutions in Mokokchung not to open till October-end

Dimapur, Oct. 15 (EMN): Educational institutions including schools, colleges and training centres as well as religious places in Mokokchung district would not be opened till the end of October.

The notification to this effect was issued jointly by the All Ward Union Mokokchung Town, Mokokchung Town Aoer Telongjem and Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem, which was served to the Mokokchung district administration and the district task force on Covid-19 on October 14.

The notice mentioned that under Clause 1 ‘Educational institutions including schools, colleges, training centres and religious places would not to open till the end of October 2020. It added that under Clause 4 ‘any person entering Mokokchung town and its 18 wards from other districts/ states should produce a Covid-19 negative report or report to concerned authority without which no one would be allowed to enter’.

It may be mentioned that the state government had issued SOP for partial reopening of schools for classes 9 to 12 and permission for skill or entrepreneurship training institution and centres, and for opening of religious places of worship.

The notice also stated that violators of the SOP would be penalised as per the relevant section of the Disaster Management Act 2005, and the Nagaland Epidemic Disease (Covid-19) Regulations 2020.

However, in contrary to the ‘information’ jointly issued by the All Ward Union, Mokokchung Town, Mokokchung Town AoerTelongjem and Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjen, the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung and the task force on Covid-19, in exercise of the powers conferred under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, and the Nagaland Epidemic Disease (Covid-19) Regulations 2020, Disaster Management Act 2005, stated that the said ‘Information’ is unauthorised and deemed as illegal.
