Mon district organises programmes to commemorate International Day of Girl Child
Dimapur, Oct. 13 (EMN): Several activities were taken up in Mon district in the week leading up to International Day of the Girl Child on October 11.
In the first week of October, results of the online photography competition of mother and daughter in traditional attire were declared. The competition was organised as part of the Konyak post harvest ‘La-Ong Mo’ festival, a DIPR update informed.
On October 2, a BBBP logo campaign was initiated wherein netizens were requested to set the BBBP logo as their official display picture for a day. On October 5, a live webinar for civil service aspirants was organised with two officers of the district Vineet Kumar IAS and Khenpa NCS as resource persons.
International Day of the Girl Child was observed throughout Mon district on October 11. At Mon headquarters, BBBP champions Nginlei and Pongam (Mechanics) visited the District Hospital to felicitate parents of new born baby girls. The Mahila Shakti Kendra and Sakshi – OSC team accompanied them during the visit.
Further, the following initiatives were taken up in the sub-divisions:
• In Anjanyang sub-division, an online dancing competition was organised.
• In the Tizit sub-division, besides a painting competition for girls, an awareness programme on Covid-19 for adolescent girls was also organised.
• In the Naginimora sub-division, girls of various high schools and higher secondary schools initiated a town cleaning drive.
• In Aboi sub-division, two online competitions were launched: “Mother Daughter Traditional Wear Photo Competition” and “An Online Singing Competition for Girls”.
