Candidates can carry only up to INR 50,000
Dimapur, Oct. 7 (EMN): With reference to the bye-election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 14th Southern Angami-I and 60th Pungro, Kiphire assembly constituencies, the chief election commissioner (CEO) of Nagaland has issued the schedule of the election.
• October 16 — last date for nominations
• October 17 —scrutiny of nominations
• October 19 — last date for withdrawal of candidatures
• November 3 — date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken
• November 12 — date before which the election shall be completed
In a separate circular, district election officer of Kohima Gregory Thejawelie has informed political parties, candidates and party workers that cash exceeding INR 50,000 found in a vehicle carrying a candidate, his agent or party workers or carrying posters or election materials or any drugs, liquor, arms or gift items worth more than INR 10,000, likely to be used for inducement of electors shall be subject to seizure.
Members of the public carrying any amount in cash exceeding INR 50,000 should always keep some relevant documents with them which substantiate the source and purpose of the money, he informed.
