Weather forecast: Heavy to moderate rainfall predicted
Dimapur, Oct. 1 (EMN): Nagaland is expected to experience heavy to moderate rainfall over the next week, according to a forecast issued on Thursday by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA).
It informed that the rainy season will continue till around October 20, adding that a weather system has formed in the Bay of Bengal, which is likely to persist over the region for the next four to five days.
“No extreme weather activity expected. However moderate rain and thunderstorms with lightning is expected mostly during evening and night between October 1 and the 6th. Improvement of weather expected from October 7 onward and light weather activity between October 7 and the 10th. During this period, thundershowers and lighting accompanied with heavy rains is expected in the districts of Kiphire, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Peren, Phek and Tuensang. Moderate and light rain is expected in Dimapur district,” it informed.
It also requested the citizens to be vigilant; and all the DDMAs and other line departments to remain alert.
