Most Covid-19 transmissions in Nagaland happen at workplace, home

Dimapur, Aug. 29 (EMN): Fifty-two percent of the Covid-19 cases among traced contacts reported in Nagaland, as of August 28, were ‘acquired infections’ at offices and workplaces, according to the Health department’s weekly data.

It was followed by ‘household’ with 40%.

“Closed space settings are the highest risk for infection where personal safety measures have to be strictly ensured; hand-washing, use of mask and physical distancing along with adequate natural ventilation,” advised the department.

The past week reported 186 cases as compared with 297 cases in the preceding week.

The recovery rate has also improved to 75% from 57% last week, which is equivalent to India’s recovery rate of 76%, it informed.

Armed forces continue to contribute maximum number of cases at 43%.

‘The median age for the Covid-19 cases is 32 years with a range from 5 months to 93 years; 0.42% of the cases have co-morbidities; 82% of the cases are males; 50% cases are from Dimapur, followed by Kohima at 23%,’ it informed.
