Kiphire detects one Covid-19 case on TrueNat

Dimapur, Aug. 18 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of and vice chairman of Kiphire District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Abhinav Shivam, has informed that one Covid-19 positive case has been detected through TrueNat and asked the public not to panic but to follow the guidelines issued by the government. However, RT-PCR test result of the case is still awaited.

The DC said this at the Kiphire DPDB meeting held on August 18 at DC Conference Hall, Kiphire, informed an update from DIPR.

Kiphire is the only district in Nagaland that hasn’t reported any Covid-19 positive cases so far.

While asking the public not to panic, Shivam stressed on the importance of following the SOP like wearing of face masks, hand washing and maintain social distancing.

“The only green zone district in Nagaland was unfortunately detected with one positive case on 17th August 2020, from the quarantine centre Kiphire, but he informed that for more confirmation, sample was further sent to BSL- lab,” the update informed.

Chairman of DPDB Kiphire and minister for Soil and Water Conservation, Geology and Mining, V Kashiho Sangtam welcomed all the new members of the board and said that it missed out many meetings due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He thanked all the frontline workers, district administration and civil societies for their tireless work at this time of crisis.

The minister urged all the HODs in the district to be more sincere in their work especially at this time of hardships. He also requested all not to discriminate or create fear but to assist one another.

Regarding the Covid-19 positive case, he told the members not to panic as confirmation is awaited. He also requested the Medical department to keep a detailed record of the returnees.

Lisethrong 11 ward president also, in his short speech, requested all the officers to do good work for Kiphire district.

lamenting that things are not progressing as expected though Kiphire is known as ‘Aspirational District’, he urged all the officers posted in Kiphire to be more dedicated in their work and also to bring changes in every department.
