Nagaland Covid-19 cases reach 355

Eight fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of positive cases to 355 in the state.

This was informed by the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, through a social media update.

“Eight new cases of Covid-19 positive have been reported out of 316 samples tested. Five patients from Kohima QC and 3 from Dimapur QC,” the minister tweeted.

Till date, Health authorities in Nagaland have declared 160 patients as ‘recovered’. As per the Health department’s update, there are 195 active cases in the state and no death till date.

According to Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, all the 195 active cases are asymptomatic.

“Till date, a total of 10,962 samples have been tested and out of this, 7,369 samples have been received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima, till today (June 25). Out of the 7396 samples, a total of 6,252 samples have been tested and out of which 296 samples have tested positive.

“A total of 3,672 samples have been tested by Truenat also, out of which 44 samples have tested positive and sent for confirmation by RT-PCR. 3,098 samples have tested negative and results of 522 samples are awaited. A total of 5,879 persons are presently under facility quarantine,” he informed.

Meanwhile, Health officials have said that 80% of the cases have been released from hospitals.

Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Vizolie Z Suokhrie said that most of the positive cases were aged between 20 to 40.

‘When the body is strong and is in the healthiest and strongest phase, the recovery is expected to be much faster, which is the advantage of the returnees,’ he said.

Dr. Nyanthung Kikon, State Nodal Officer for IDSP, said that 13 of those who were admitted to Covid Hospital, Chedema have been discharged already.

The additional project director for National Health Project, Dr. Atoshe Sema, urged the people to not doubt the results produced by the TrueNat or bio-safety levels.

Some people may think that the results are not what it appears to be, but the test is being approved by the ICMR and only after thorough analysis, the council gives permission, he said.
