Daily wage earner dies after falling into well in Chedema, Kohima

Kohima, June 24 (EMN): In an unfortunate incident on Wednesday, a daily wage earner who was working in a newly dug ring well at Chedema village under Kohima district, accidentally fell into the pit, which proved fatal.
The incident happened about 17 km away from the state capital, when the deceased along with two others were reportedly working to set the hollow reinforced cement concrete (RCC) ring into the pit, which was about 50 feet deep.
According to eye witnesses, the accident occurred when the 24-year-old worker went inside the pit and fell to the bottom at around 10 am. Another worker tried to rescue him but he failed to reach the deceased due to less oxygen. The police and authorities were alerted thereafter.
After several attempts by the Nagaland Police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and home guards along with the locals, the body was retrieved from the well at around 6 pm but was brought out dead. The deceased was identified as Raju (24) from Karbi Anglong district in Assam.
