Nagaland government has spent nearly INR 25 crore on relief packages

Kohima, June 7(EMN): The government of Nagaland has disbursed INR 24,84,86,000 till date under CM relief fund package, which includes special package for students, working persons, patients stranded outside the state, and one-time assistance for non-returnee.

This was informed by spokesperson for Covid-19, Mmhonlumo Kikon at a press conference on Sunday in Kohima.

“The government will publish all the names of beneficiaries and the amount given to them in the next few days,” he stated.

According to Kikon, one of the concerns of the citizens of Nagaland is about the state government’s plans and strategies to strengthen the economy. He reminded that there is already a strategic committee on economic affairs headed by the chief minister, “who will submit strategies after consultation and proper homework for strengthening of economy.”

He also informed that as of June 7, there were 238 quarantine centres with 13,008 beds available in the state, citing that in terms of the number of people coming in and the number of people who have already completed their 14 days mandatory period , there will be some adjustment.

“They are coming in batches, and our learning experience in the past few months has enabled us to address the various management issues; and our district administrations are also working 24×7 to address this issue,” he assured.

Fifth strictest quarantine protocol

In the entire country, Nagaland is ranked fifth among states with the strictest quarantine protocol for returnees, Kikon informed. He also informed that seven TrueNat machines have arrived and 15 more are coming in a few days. It was further informed that at present, the testing capacity is 171 per day.

“According to the Medical (Health) department, once all the TrueNat machines are recieved in 5-7 days, the testing capacity of the state will increase from 171 to 820 testing per day and that will greatly ease the state capacity, to ensure that all the district hospitals will be able to test the returnees, and later on anyone, who is willing to get themselves tested in their own district,” he stated.

Talking about the standard operation procedure (SOP), he said that the framework and the policy structure remains the same. “There are certain changes or certain SOP reviews, which are done to respond to current and unforeseen challenges, so it does not mean we have changed the entire SOP.”
