Nagaland Police apologises for assault on doctor

Dimapur, April 4 (EMN): Nagaland Police has apologised on behalf of the police department for the assault of a medical official by members of the police enforcing the lockdown on the night of April 3 at Purana Bazaar in Dimapur.

The state’s director general of police (DGP), T John Longkumer, stated an apology on April 4 for the assault which was stated to have happened when the individual, a Dr. Nesozol Sezo, was returning home after work during the lockdown period.

The police chief said ‘inquiry is being conducted,’ but did not identify the culprits.  

“As head of the police department, I wish to tender my sincere apologies to Dr Nesozol Sezo and the medical fraternity for the unfortunate incident involving Dr Sezo and few police personnel last night. An enquiry is being conducted and action will be against those found guilty. I appeal to all our medical brethren for your forbearance and forgiveness,” Longkumer tweeted.
