Vekuzo Vezuh is Phek area wrestling champion

Kohima, Jan. 29 (EMN): Vekuzo Vezuh on Wednesday emerged the champion of the 26th Wrestling Meet of the Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) at Phek town.
35 year-old Vekuzo Vezuh pocketed a cash prize of INR 80,000 while 23-year old Serayi won the second position winning INR 60,000.
Kuluveto Venuh of Phek village bagged the third position and walked away with a cash prize of INR 40, 000.
Twenty-year-old Basayi Keyho of Phek village stood fourth and was awarded INR 30, 000.
Quarter finalists Vekutho Soho and Surhovoyi Nienu were awarded INR 3000 each.
Earlier, the inaugural function was attended by MLA Küzholuzo (Azo) Nienu as inaugural guest and he said “sports have become one of the biggest industries in the universe”.
Nienu also called upon the youths to be more dedicated, committed and sincere to compete with the rest of the world.
Further, he also urged the youths to involve in the field of arm wrestling, mix martial arts, open championship and the famous Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Meanwhile the guest of honour, MLA Kezhienyi Khalo encouraged the wrestlers to be courageous and dedicated in whatever discipline one takes up.
“Only through hard work and dedication one can make it to the top,” added Khalo.
12 best senior and 4 U-16 wrestlers will represent PAWA in the forth coming 27th wrestling championship of Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) scheduled from February 18 at Phek town.
Meanwhile, U-16 years wrestling event will take place on January 30.
