Kohima, Jan. 22 (EMN): Kikruvilie Zumu from Tuophema village emerged as the champion of the Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) Group-D by defeating the reigning champion of Gariphema village, Zakiebeituo Kire on Wednesday.
NASA Group-D comprising 12 villages organised its 28th Wresting meet at Teichüma village local ground, hosted by the Teichüma Village Youth and Sports Organisation.
The wrestling was held two categories viz. senior with 32 participants and junior with 25 participants on January 22.
Zumu walked away with a cash prize of INR 30,000 while the second position holder, Zakiebeituo Kire received INR 20,000.
Kevibou Kense and Kezhabou Zumu, both from Touphema village, bagged the third and fourth positions, thus winning INR 15,000 and INR 10,000 respectively.
In the under-16 category, Pezanei-u Pielie from Gariphe Basa won the title and received a cash price of INR 8,000, while Ruokuovor Kaco from Tuophema village, Neisakhotuo Thevo from Seiyhama village and Shürhosielie Khana from Gariphema village stood in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions, thus received a cash prize of INR 5000, INR 3000 and INR 2000 respectively.
Earlier, special officer to chief minister, Neibalie Rio attended the inaugural programme as the special guest while convenor of the drafting committee Dr. Kevizakie Rio, released the constitution of the NASA Group-D during the occasion.
Altogether 15 wrestlers from NASA Group-D will be representing the group in the NASA Wrestling Meet 2020.
