Longleng board sets work agenda for district

Dimapur, Jan. 16 (EMN): The Longleng District Planning & Development Board conducted a meeting on January 15 in the deputy commissioner’s (DC) conference hall during which issues of officers not being regular, among other matters, were discussed. 

The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) gave updates on Thursday informing about the meeting.

Expressing serious concern at the absence of members in the meeting, Deputy Commissioner M Shayung Phom said that no member should send their representatives unless the officer is engaged in other official duties, the IPR stated.

Further, the deputy commissioner gave away cash amounting to INR 1.50 lac to the medical superintendent of Longleng district hospital which was contributed by officers to assist poor patients in the district.

Phom thanked the government officers and departments for their donations to the hospital to help the poor. He appealed to the hospital’s authority to judiciously use the funds for patients who cannot afford medical expenses.

Further, the board discussed traffic congestion issues, and about the formation of an officers’ club for Longleng. Later, work for the Republic Day celebrations was distributed among the members. The IPR department distributed complementary copies of the Nagaland calendar and diary for 2020 to the members of the DPDB present there, the IPR stated.

In other matters, the deputy commissioner asked the officers to participate in the 1st Inter-Longleng district badminton open championship. 

On behalf of Longleng District Badminton Association (LDBA) a member, Chingtam Phom, lauded former deputy commissioner John Tsulise Sangtam, and the district administration and its officers who contributed to the association. He informed the board about the activities, performance and participation of the association at various levels representing the district. He asked the officers to participate in the forthcoming 1st Inter Longleng District Badminton Open Championship for men and women, from Feb. 5 to the 8th in Longleng, the IPR stated.
