Dimapur, Jan. 12 (EMN): A three-day annual general conference of the Association of Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland (AGBCN) concluded on January 12 at its mission centre at Singrijan in Dimapur district.

The conference was conducted with the theme “Rooted and growing in Christ” (Colossians 2:7) with the pastor of Christian City Church, Macky City, Australia, Peter Loosmore, as the main speaker, an update on Sunday from the publicity committee stated.

Speaking on the occasion, Loosmore encouraged the congregation to have the spiritual trust to know Jesus Christ from the core of one’s heart and receive the living water. Saying that many people have God in their heads but don’t accept him from the heart, he said one needs the Holy Spirit to be guided towards the living God. The speaker also conducted special prayers for healing and acceptance.

Pastor of GBC Diphupar, Gideon Gurung and pastor of GBC Khehokhu, Binod Lama, conducted Bible study in the morning session.

On the last day, proprietor of Model English School, Mon, Raju Thapa and pastor of Murise Baptist Church, Tsaose Sangtam, shared greetings.

Nepali Baptist Church, Tuensang, led in praise and worship, while special music and cultural presentation were presented by different churches.

During the conference, NBC Jessami from Manipur was affiliated as an associate member taking the total affiliation to 50 churches under the association. Special prayers were also held for the families of three Gorkha reverends namely Rev. B Amos, Rev. K Mero and Rev. CP Sharma, who passed away last year.

The business session was held under the chairmanship of AGBCN chairman Tek Gurung. Reports were presented by AGBCN executive secretary Santabir Rai; mission secretary Hari Magar; women secretary Beena Thapa; youth secretary Sishir Gurung; chairman of pastors’ fellowship Surjay B Sapkota; and chairman of resource and development committee Chupaman Rai.

The conference was hosted by seven Gorkhali Baptist Churches comprising of Diphupar, Khehokhu, Padumpukhuri, Xukiye, Zaka, Nikiqhe and Khushiabill villages of Dimapur district.

Altogether, 400 delegates and believers from 40 Nepali and Gorkha churches from different parts of the state as well as from Assam and Manipur attended the conference.
