State KVKs launch fertiliser application

Dimapur, Oct. 22 (EMN):
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mon, organised a launching programme on fertiliser application in its office premises on October 22. The programme was organised in collaboration with the department of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers Welfare under the department of Agricultural Research and Education and department of Fertilisers, government of India.

Resource person Imtinuksung, SMS (soil conservation), delivered a lecture and made power point presentations on the importance of soil test for improvement of soil health and crop nutrients, utilisation of mixed fertilisers for increasing nutrients efficiency, effective utilisation of bio-fertilisers and collection of soil samples.

An update from Dr. Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu, senior scientist and head of KVK Mon, stated that Dr. MS Sachan enlightened the participants through a screening of video on integrated nutrient management.

Altogether, 95 participants from Nganching, Chinglong, Mohung, Langmeang villages, Aboi town, representatives from KU and KNSK, Aboi unit, attended the programme.

In a similar programme, KVK Kohima, organised a launching programme on fertiliser application in its conference hall on October 22 with Kenyuseng Tep, president of Rengma Hoho and speaker of Naga Hoho, as the guest of honour of the launching programme.

Stating that farmers have grown crops since time immemorial and were self-sufficient even without the knowledge of fertiliser application, he however stressed on the necessity to equip with the need knowledge in enriching the soil condition with changing times.

He further acknowledged the efforts of KVKs and requested them to highlight on locally available fertilisers to farmers.

During the technical session, topics on fertiliser application and pig nutrition were delivered by Zhiete, ACTO (soil science), and Dr. Temjennungsang, ACTO (veterinary and animal husbandry) respectively.

Short video clips on integrated nutrient management was also shown to the participants. Farmers from eight neighbouring villages participated in the programme.
