Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): One more group of landowners has alleged manipulation of compensation by the authorities to deny ‘genuine beneficiaries.’
The Tamlu Area Aggrieved Landowners’ Union issued a press release on Monday seeking clarification, from the National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and nodal department of Longleng district, to what it stated was ‘fraud compensation’ in connection with the Tamlu-Merangkong-Mon two-lane road project.
It alleged that the compensation amount meant for ‘genuine beneficiaries’ has been manipulated by presenting the ‘abstract estimate as final compensation to landowners’.
The union demanded urgent reinvestigation into the matter to clear the doubts “amicably and timely”; and disciplinary action
against erring officials/ individual/groups involved in the “chit scam”.
Among others, the union demanded the NHIDCL and nodal department of Longleng district to furnish the grant total of compensation amount forwarded by the deputy commissioner of Longleng; whether the recent publication of property compensation list was final.
It has asked the authorities concerned to finish the reinvestigation on or before October 20.
