Kohima, Oct. 2 (EMN): In an attempt to discourage bottled drinking water, five smart water ATMs were installed at various locations in Kohima on October 2. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio launched the facility during the state-level programme for Kohima Smart City Mission held at NBCC convention centre in Kohima.
The drinking water ATMs were installed at five locations — High School (Baskin Robins); Razhü Point (Solo complex); Near NST (Café Select); Old NST (NCS Building); and BOC (Taxi parking). The smart water machine cost INR 9,15,000 each, according to Kovi Meyase, CEO of Kohima Smart City Development Ltd.
The water ATMs are said to have reverse osmosis purification and UV filtration system. The facility also envisages better access to clean drinking water to the public. It was initiated by the Kohima Smart City Development Ltd. as part of the Kohima smart city mission.
