Dimapur, Aug. 21 (EMN): The Southern Angami VDBs’ Union (SAVDBU) has resented the apathy of the state government towards non-payment of salary of DRDA staff for more than 11 months and appealed to the government to do justice to the employees who are sincerely working for the downtrodden section of the society.
The union, in a joint statement issued by its information secretary Kethozelhou Ngulie and the president Kevizeho, also raised concern over the increasing workload day-by-day despite poor network/ internet connectivity to cope with the ever increasing workloads and changing systems accompanied with poor banking facilities across the state that are faced by the staff. Under such circumstances, the union asserted it was beyond imagination that the staff are not duly paid on time.

The union cautioned that non-payment of salary and insensitive attitude toward their demand would have ultimate effect on the village economy and development at large.

“Nagaland, being a state of villages with very poor demographic dividend, subject to hand-to-mouth livelihood economy will be largely affected if MGREGA funds are derailed by non-payments to DRDA staffs, since they are the nerves and vein moving in state,” the union release stated.

Stating that the first phase of agitation of the staff had already impacted the system for flow of fund to the state, the union appealed to the authority to be more sensitive toward its own poor people. Meanwhile, the union extended its supports to the staff towards their rightful and deserving demand for salary.
