Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters debuted “Sonic Highways” on Tuesday followed by an hourlong performance at the Ed Sullivan Theater.
The HBO series follows the band to eight recording studios as they interview local musicians while making their own album.
The group starts in Chicago, where, “The first time I ever saw a live band play was at this little bar called the Cubby Bear,” Grohl told us. “I got my belly against the stage . . . it’s loud, there’s spit and blood and beer everywhere, and I’m like, ‘I want to do this for the rest of my life.’”
The band will play the Cubby Bear on Friday.
