One dies, three injure in Manipur porch collapse

Imphal, May 10 (EMN): One person died while three sustained injuries after a portion of an old shop porch collapsed on Friday afternoon.
The incident took place in between Tampha store and RK book store located on the southern side of the Bir Tikendrajit flyover around 4pm, police said.
The injured persons including two female and one male passerby were evacuated to RIMS hospitals for further treatment.
The two female, believed to be street vendors have been identified as Shangkhu MK (40) and Tungbi Musol(55), both residents of Sandangsemba Maring Ngariyan village in Imphal east district while the male passerby has been identified as Kishan Thounaojam (27),a resident of Mayang Imphal in Imphal west district.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be identified till the report goes to the press.
Meanwhile, the state’s Urban Planning and Forest minister Th Shyamkumar expressed sadness over the incident.
He told the reporters that the concerned officials will take up the needful for the unfortunate victims besides taking up necessary steps to avoid such incidents in future.
