Rio announces 15% additional allowance to Nagaland police

Dimapur, Feb. 16: Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has on Saturday announced that the Nagaland government would sanction ‘15% extra allowance of basic pay to Nagaland police and instructors’ allowance to all the sanctioned staff posted in the training centre.’

Rio announced this at the attestation parade of the 65th batch of constables at the Nagaland Police Training School parade ground, Chumukedima on Feb. 16.

Rio said, “I have informed the DGP and all senior officers that our training courses must be equal to or better than the training centres in other states.” He stressed on the need to improve all aspects of training even as he assured the government would always be supportive and ensure the department’s welfare.

The chief minister was happy to learn that ‘a good number of educated personnel were joining the police force’ as he remarked that in today’s world it was essential that the skills and expertise of the police personnel are upgraded to meet the challenges of modern times.

“Particularly those who join as constables, as highly qualified educationally, opportunities will come your way and your knowledge will be an advantage. I therefore see a bright future especially for those who start with small things,” Rio said.

The chief minister was appreciative of the Police Training School for its ‘commendable job’ in imparting basic training to the DEF personnel, jail wardens, mahila recruits, sub-inspectors, and other officers from NPS and IPS probationers since 1966.

Rio told the newly recruits that the completion of their training was just the beginning and that their service to the people and elsewhere lies ahead. He was confident that they would perform their duty with selfless devotion.

Also, Rio encouraged the newly recruited batch of constables to abide by the department’s motto of ‘security, service and sacrifice.’ He reminded them that the time spent at the PTS, friendships forged with their batch mates, and seniors at PTS will be a lifelong bond, which will remain an unbreakable link between them.

The chief minister lauded the state police saying: “Our Nagaland Police boys and mahila jawans have earned laurels wherever they have been deployed for law and order duties. Even during the Hornbill festival last year, the tourist police of Nagaland played a vital role in ensuring an incident-free festival. Our Nagaland Police personnel have proved to be second to none and are highly regarded as a disciplined and well turned-out force.”

As a police person, one must remember that he stands out only because of his disciplined life style and well turned out uniform. Nagas are also known as a martial race and we expect high of you to be smart, disciplined, dedicated in the service of our state and the nation, Rio hoped.
