Mewetsho-u Dianu is Miss Nagaland 2018
In a spectacular evening, 20-year old Mewetsho-u Dianu from Pfutseromi village of Phek district was crowned Miss Nagaland 2018. The event was held at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts at Jotsoma in Kohima on Dec. 9.
The event was organised by the Beauty & Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN).
Dianu who was also crowned Miss Phek last month, walked away with a cash award of INR 1.5 lakh. The first runners-up was awarded to Grace W Ezung and second runners was awarded to Bendangkokla. Both the runners up received INR 1 lakh and INR 70k respectively.
The seven subtitle categories which was awarded to the contestants includes Miss Photogenic which was awarded to Aka Achumi, Miss Talent was awarded to Neingainem Kuki, Miss Perfect Ten was awarded to Mewetsho-u Dianu; Miss Queen Of Hearts and Best Evening Gown was awarded to Vekhotolü Lohe, Miss Multimedia was awarded to Martola and Miss Empower was awarded to Tsuniholi.
Nagaland governor PB Acharya was the guest of honour for the evening.
Miss World Asia Koyal Rana who was one of the judges of the event felt Nagaland as “so beautiful.” Encouraged to witness the contestants walking the ramp confidently, the judge complemented the contestants citing that they are “empowering so many women and helping them to get out of their comfort zones.”
The judges for the evening were Asu Keyho, former advisor to BASN; Theyiesinuo Keditsu, who is poet, writer, and educator; Rajesh Soundararajan, deputy commissioner of Kohima; Kaheli Chophy, Miss India Nagaland 2017 and Koyal Rana, Miss World Asia 2014.
Altogether, 11 contestants participated from various districts of the state.
The rounds to win the title included traditional, designer, evening’s wear, and the interview rounds.
The evening also witnessed performances by various artists including Ethnic Future, Mezanuo Ngukha, Mar Jamir, Mangyang Kichu, Illusion Crew, Keneisenuo Sorhie, Seyievinuo Chuzho.
