Queen Mary Hr. Sec. wins 8th Inter-school beat contest
The band from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School (QMHSS) were adjudged as the champion of the 8th Inter-school beat contest after a tough battle with various school bands under Mokokchung district while the band from Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School (MGHSS) were adjudged as the runners-up.
The event organised by the Students Welfare Society Alumni of Hill View Higher Secondary School Mokokchung was held at Town Hall in Mokokchung on Sep. 14.
This year’s 8th edition was held better as hosts of various schools in and around Mokokchung enthusiastically participated in the clash of bands. They were also many young female vocalists and bassist who took the stage along with male musicians who fuelled the stage with their power pack performance.
The judges for the contest were Arsashi Ozukum, President MDMA; Meyalemba proprietor of Mountian Beat Music School and Impojang Convener of Temolunger Telok.
The contest was adjudged on band’s electrifying originals and cover songs.
Guest bands for the night were Clarion, Mad Hatter and Class of Music.
The popular dance crew in the town- Pop Corn also enthralled the crows with their versatile dance moves.
The event was graced by Lipokmar Tzudir , former Director NEZCC .
The winner of the 8th Inter-school beat contest 2018 walked away with a cash amount of INR 15,000 along with trophy and certificates while the runner-up walked away with a cash amount of INR 10000 along with certificates. The participating bands were also conferee with certificates.
The individual’s prizes were: Best Original- MGHSS, Best Vocalist- QMHSS, Best Guitarist- MGHSS, Best Bassist-QMHSS, Best Drummer- QMHSS and Best Band Manager/ Best Punctual Band- NCRS.
