Kohima, Sep. 10 (EMN):
The ‘Bharat bandh’ called by the Congress on Monday was a total failure in Kohima. Shops and fuel outlets remain opened throughout the day.

Speaking at the Congress Bhavan, the NPCC’s vice president, Khriedi Theünuo said that the strike a sudden event that was decided during the All India Congress Committee’s meeting that was held on September 6, and that not enough time was given to organize it. Nonetheless, he said that the strike garnered considerable participation of people in other parts of the country along with the support of 21 political parties in the country.

Asserting that the Congress was here to correct the ‘corrupt system’ of the Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, he called upon the people to stand and fight for the welfare of the people lest the people ‘continue to suffer’ in the hands of the NDA.
