AR apprehends gold smugglers

Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): The 12th Assam Rifles of the 26th sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (south) have apprehended two gold smugglers who were said to have been carrying 10 gold bars each at Khudengthabi check post in Tengnoupal district on Jan. 6.
A press release from the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) mentions that at around 3: 15 pm, a blue coloured Maruti van with registration no. AS 19H 3364 moving from Moreh towards Imphal was stopped at Khudengthabi check post for checking.
A passenger of the vehicle is said to have been moving suspiciously at the check post. On checking the individual Md Yashir, aged 15 of Lilong in Thoubal district 10 gold bars weighing approximately 1.660 Kgs (approx cost 4980000/-) were recovered from both legs below the knee, hidden beneath the knee cap of the individual.
On further interrogation, the apprehended individual revealed the identity of another individual carrying gold biscuits. At around 7:00 pm a suspected individual was stopped for checking and on checking the individual, Aslam Shah, aged 22 years was apprehended with the same Both the apprehendee along with recovered gold were handed over to Moreh PS, the release stated.
