Dimapur, July 17 (EMN): Sazolie College, Jotsoma, held its 13th Freshers’ Day on July 15, at the College Auditorium, with Waloniba Jamir, the vice-principal of the College as the speaker.
The vice principal welcomed and exhorted the freshers and encouraged them to build their confidence, develop a positive attitude and try to grab all the opportunities that come their way. He asked the students to turn their aspirations into reality by working hard and giving their best. “The best tool to beat all odds in life is through education”, he stated. He also urged the students to be serious in their studies because education, once acquired, cannot be taken away by anybody, unlike wealth and riches which can vanish anytime. Thus, education remains the most valuable asset in an individual’s life, he said. Quoting from the Bible, he also reminded the students to remain humble so that God will lift them up accordingly in His own time. The Vice-Principal also said the College has deliberately decided not to select Mr and Miss Freshers as it considers all the students who join the institution as equal.
The chairperson for the first session was Yashichubala, invocation was said by Nzanthung Kikon and special music presentations were given by Nyumei Ong and Lütsülü Swüro while Kelezonü Mekro delivered welcome address and Limajungla spoke on behalf of the freshers.
The second session, which was compered by Wellenchila saw very impressive and interesting performances from the students that included songs, dances and beatboxing. The vote of thanks was proposed by Kevizeho Pucho. The freshers’ day programme was jointly planned and organised by the Cultural Committee and Students’ Council of the College.
