Kohima, July 2 (EMN):
Despite the directive to open all government offices in the state with 50% staff attendance following the announcement of ‘Unlock I’ from July 1 to the 10th, many employees were reportedly absent at their places of posting.

The district task forces have submitted the names of as many as 99 officers from various departments, who were found absent from their places of posting. While a handful of them were absent due to medical reasons, dual charge and on official duty, majority of them had no valid reasons.

As per the absentees list, a copy of which is available with Eastern Mirror, Longleng bear the brunt of this menace with maximum number of officers found absent. It is followed by Phek, Mon and Zunheboto districts with more than 10 officers recorded absent, while Kiphire, Tuensang, Peren, Noklak and Mokokchung recorded less than 10 absentees.

However, the list did not provide data of Kohima, Dimapur and Wokha districts.

Departments where officers were found absent included: Agriculture, Art and Culture, Cooperation, Employment, Labour, Evaluation, Excise, Fire and Emergency Services, Fisheries, Health & Family Welfare, HG&CD, Horticulture, Industries and Commerce, IPR, KVIB/NKVIB, Land Records & Survey, Land Resources, NIC, PHED, Power, PWD, RD, SCERT, School Education, Sericulture, Social Welfare, Soil & Water Conservation, Youth Resources and Sports, and Economics and Statistics.

The chief secretary had earlier directed HODs and AHODs to strictly implement “no work, no pay” policy as the government offices resume on July 1 and various departments to had warned of action against erring staff.  However, the directive had made little or no impact on many government employees as they continue to skip work.

Following this, the chief secretary on Friday directed all the concerned AHODs to take seek explanation (in writing) from officers who were not at their places of posting. It further directed to immediately report to their posting place and report to concerned deputy commissioners and chairmen of district task forces.

‘Action taken in this regard may be submitted to the state-level war room on or before July 8,’ the directive added.
