Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): A Shramik special train carrying stranded citizens of Nagaland from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala reached Dimapur at around 9.20 am on Saturday, according to a DIPR report.

The train arrived with 938 citizens of Nagaland stranded in the southern states of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.

Except for those from Dimapur, all the returnees were transported by buses to their respective districts after undergoing thermal screening at the railway station.

The returnees of Dimapur district were taken directly to Agri Expo site to undergo ‘medical screening’ before being transported to the designated quarantine centres.

It may be noted that the Shramik special train from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala to Dimapur in Nagaland has created history by travelling 4322 kilometre, the longest known train route in India. The previous record for the longest train journey in the country was held by the Vivek Express that operates on a weekly basis from Dibrugarh in Assam to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, a distance of 4,273 km.
