91 railway stations in NFR to be redeveloped under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

DIMAPUR — Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, stated during a reply tabled in the Parliament that the Ministry of Railways has launched Amrit Bharat Station scheme for enhancing amenities like circulating areas, waiting halls, toilets, escalators, kiosks for local products, executive lounges, etc.

“The scheme also envisages improvement of building, integrating the station with both sides of the city, multimodal integration, amenities for Divyangjans, sustainable and environment friendly solutions, provision of ballast less tracks etc., as per necessity, phasing and feasibility and creation of city centres at the station in the long term,” read a press release from Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).

A total of 1324 stations, including 91 in NFR have been selected for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), it said, adding that the Indian Railways is committed to making its stations accessible for persons with disabilities.
