Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): Minister Health & Family Welfare, Pangyu Phom flagged off a walkathon in Dimapur from Holy Cross School junction to District Hospital Dimapur on September 23 as part of one year anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY).

An update from DIPR informed that Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in convergence with Social Welfare, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs organised the event.

Speaking during the programme held at District Hospital Dimapur, Phom said that PMJAY was launched on September 23 last year with an aim to prevent impoverishment due expenses on hospitalisation and to promote access to quality healthcare to the poor and vulnerable section of the society.

In order to take service closer to the needy people, he said, the department has extended hospital empanelment up to PHCs where 63 hospitals comprising 59 public and four private hospitals have been enrolled so far and many people have benefited. He added that grievances redressal mechanisms are in place at state, district and empanelled hospital levels to ensure satisfaction of the beneficiaries and for prompt and effective management of grievances.

On the fraud threats, particularly attempts to enrol ineligible persons and malpractice by hospitals, the minister said that adequate measures have been taken up to prevent such fraudulent activities by leveraging technology and spot physical verifications. He further cautioned that stern action, including FIR will be taken against fraudsters.

DC Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, appreciated the Central and state governments for the scheme and its successful implementation. He also reminded the doctors and nurses to re-dedicate themselves saying that “the privilege God has given to them is not given to many.”

Zehol informed the district hospital authorities that the administration has also marked some amount from LADP for the improvement of mortuary in the hospital.

Deputy CMO, Dr. Antoly Suu, while giving the keynote address, mentioned that under the scheme, a beneficiary having the E-card can avail up to INR 5 lakh per year and can have treatment in all empanelled hospitals in the country, and that beneficiaries were selected based on the Social Economic Caste Census 2011. She further informed the gathering that altogether 3,0,344 people from Dimapur district have already availed the scheme, amounting to INR 1,75,63,680.

The programme was chaired by medical superintendent, while welcome address was delivered by CMO, Dimapur, Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi.

PMJAY anniversary celebration in Phek 

The District Health Society Phek in collaboration with the NULM, Urban Development Municipal Affairs and Social Welfare departments organised a walkathon from DC Police point to District Hospital Phek to commemorate one year anniversary of Ayushman Bharat PMJAY on September 23. The programme was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Phek, Sachin Jaiswal.

An update from district media officer Kutolu Nakro informed that a ceremonial function and health screening camp was also launched at DH conference hall, Phek to mark the anniversary of PMJAY.

Phek DC called upon the participants to avail PMJAY scheme and said that “we need to increase the number of PMJAY beneficiaries in our district.” He also conferred the best performing PMAMs award to Tshelhou Doulou (Kezukewe Kra Enhulumi) at the event.

Dr. Shevosa, MO DH, gave an awareness talk on PMJAY and National Health Protection Mission. Beneficiary testimonials were also presented by Chekhupa and Nuluhulu (PMJAY) and Velu (NULM).

The programme was chaired by Dr. Vethihulu, Dy. Chief Medical Officer, welcome address delivered by Dr. Lanuakum, DVBO, and Dr. Kehousetuo Kuotsu pronounced the vote of thanks. It was said to be attended by ADC, doctors, programme officers, DBs, SHGs, staff of social welfare, NULM, urban, CMO, and vertical programmes, colony chairmen, GBs etc. A total of 61 patients availed the services at the health camp.
