60th Southern Angami Sports Association meet: Athletics and games begins

Kohima, Feb. 1 (EMN): Athletics and games event of 60th Southern Angami Sports Association (Sasa) commenced on Tuesday at Jakhama ground in Kohima district.

Lhoubeizo Kesiyie, president, Angami Sports Association (ASA) attended the event as the special guest at the venue.

Speaking during the event, Kesiyie asked sportspersons to have a positive attitude and strive for excellence in their field.

He reminded the players to be respectful and subservient towards their parents, coaches and elders in order to excel in life.

He also reminded the sportspersons to develop flexibility which is vital for competitions,  and urged upon them to give their best in their chosen field.

He also urged the sports lovers to develop flexibility from the grassroots level.

Sasa athletics and games secretary Thepfiizii-o Viswentso administered the oath to the participating teams while Kozhol Kirha (84), an eminent sportspersons from Jakhama village lit the meet torch.

At the end of the day, Kidima are on top of the medal tally with  five gold, one silver, one bronze; Kigwema – four gold, six silver, two bronze; Phesama – four gold, five silver two bronze; Viswema – four gold, three silver, three bronze; Mima – two gold, two silver, one bronze; Khuzama – one gold, three silver, one bronze; Jakhama:   one gold, one silver, two bronze.

The meet will continue till February 4 at Jakhama ground and Kimipfüphe ground, Kigwema.
