DIMAPUR — Six persons have been arrested in connection with the death of an alleged thief in Chümoukedima town on Tuesday.
The Dimapur Police, in a press release, stated that upon receiving information about one thief identified as Ikamul Hussain, age around 20 years, being detained by the youth of Ward No. 11, Chümoukedima, in the panchayat hall, Chümoukedima Police Station personnel rushed to the spot but found the victim in an unconscious state.
Police said the victim was immediately rushed to District Hospital Dimapur for medical treatment but the doctor declared him brought dead.
In this connection, six persons namely, Mhasisetuo Thepa, Kenelelie Chalie, Lhousevilie Doze, Job Venuh, Kekhrieselie Liezetsu and Nirmal Saikia, were arrested and a case registered under relevant sections of law; and investigation is on, said the police.
