5th Wokha inter-district departmental badminton, TT championship begins

Dimapur, April 13 (EMN): The two-day Wokha district inter-departmental badminton and table tennis (TT) open championship, organised by Wokha District Sports Council got underway at Indoor Badminton Stadium, Wokha on Wednesday.

It is being held in collaboration with Wokha District Badminton Association (WDBA) and Wokha District Table Tennis Association (WDTTA).

A DIPR update informed that Dr. Chumben Murry, MLA, was the special guest of the opening ceremony and encouraged the young people to “take up sports as a profession as the central government as well as the state government is taking a keen interest in building up the capacity for the sportspersons”.

He further urged all the participants to take part in the tournament in the true spirit of the game and declared the championship open.

The function was chaired by DSO Wokha, K Libemo Jami, while president of WDBA, Dr. Jonsuthung Kithan delivered the welcome address, and PIS, DSO Wokha administered the oath-taking.
