5th Chumoukedima inter-district tournament concludes

Dimapur, March 12 (EMN): Ward 9 FC emerged as the champions of the 5th Chumoukedima inter-ward football tournament 2022, after defeating the defending champion, Ward 8 FC with a score of 2-1 at local ground, Chumoukedima on Saturday.
The football champion received INR 50, 000, while the runner-up received INR 30, 000.
In women’s volleyball, Ward 9 won the first place, while Ward 10 emerged the runner-up and received INR 30,000 and INR 20,000 respectively.
In individual prizes, Temjenwati with seven goals (Ward 9) won the highest scorer award, best player to Keyilo (Ward 8), best defender Nyiewang (Ward 9), best goalkeeper Vilato (Ward 10) and in women’s volleyball, the best spiker was claimed by Twensinle Kisen.
Ward 10 won the best disciplined team.
Earlier, at the closing ceremony, Kasheto Yepthomi, first class contractor, was the guest of honour, while Abhinav Shivam, deputy commissioner of Chumoukedima was the special guest.
Yepthomi encouraged the players by saying that academic degree is important but they should try to polish their talents from a young age and bring it to the professional level. Shivam also encouraged the people to forget differences and come together for the best.
The six-day tournament was organised by the Chumoukedima Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) in collaboration with Chumoukedima Town Council (CTC).
